Ficklepeople is the place for anyone to write reviews of any products & services. Ficklepeople is also a website where you can find not only reviews, but video reviews and social reviews of a product.

Okie....so what's so special about Ficklepeople?
First, we allow anyone to write reviews about anything (legal). As an example, if you are planning to work abroad say in Dubai for 2 years, wouldn't it be great if someone was able to write a review on 'Living Abroad: Dubai' with details such as cost of living, the culture and the people (if they are mean or nice), and as a verdict - if it is worth your time moving over there? This IS possible with Ficklepeople.
Next by using TinyMCE, a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, reviews can be written in many creative ways - not just plain boring text.
Finally, we have our huge database of quality reviews taken from all over the internet. Looking for something? Just use the search and we will return you hand filtered quality reviews. You can also see what the social networks are saying about a product.

But why should I write reviews?
It's simple, it's all about fulfilling your responsibility as a consumer to inform others if a product/service is good or otherwise. There is nothing better than the feeling of being able to contribute back to society and to help others - in the case of writing reviews, you are helping other consumers just like yourself to choose/decide which products to buy (or not).

What are the future plans/features for Ficklepeople?
I have a list of features which I would want to implement but since Ficklepeople is user focused, I would like to get the users' feedback on what features they would want or prefer. I am also open to suggestions by the users but of course, whether they are accepted and implemented depends on many factors e.g. if I know how to develop those features.

What is the purpose of user levels?
To most people, recognition can be much more important than monetary rewards. This is exactly what the levels are for, to provide recognition for the effort of the reviewers. Besides, levels will also help other users to determine which reviews are more reliable. As an example, if someone of Level 5 writes a review of Product A and says it is good, while another person of Level 1 writes a review and say Product A sucks, in this situation you might want to trust the Level 5 user.

I want to write a review but I can't find a suitable category, what should I do?
Please use the Contact Us link and let me know the category you would like to add and do also provide a general description on the products and services which will be covered in this category.

What are feedbacks for?
Another way to let reviewers know if they are doing well (or not) is by allowing his/her readers to feedback on the reviewer's work. They, the readers can either compliment, or provide 'constructive' feedback to the author.

Who owns the reviews?
Definitely the reviewers. We can't own something we didn't write. Ficklepeople however, is allowed limited rights to the reviews published on Ficklepeople.com. For more details, please read the Terms of Use.

How do I know what to write?
A good way to start is to ask yourself, what do you enjoy writing about? Then, proceed by asking if there is a way for you to have access to that product/service - buy, borrow from a friend, rent but please don't steal or rob from your neighbour. If you still can't think of anything (writer's block is common), go to the Requests section to see what community needs to be reviewed.

Why can't I upload my images? Why do I need to use the image sharing services?
In order to provide even more freedom to our reviewers, we didn't want to limit the number of images that the reviewers can use in their reviews. Reviews would look really boring if the contents consist mostly of words, it would be annoying if a pop up is displayed saying 'Sorry, you can only upload a maximum of 5 pictures.', don't you agree? As a result, I have removed the upload function and will only allow images only via URLs.
Confession: The explanation above is just a nicer way to tell our users that Ficklepeople lacks the funding for the bandwidth and space for unlimited image uploads.

How do I write a good review?
Learn from the good reviewers, talk to people and get feedback on your work. Keep up the effort and your reviews will improve over time.
I would like my review to be featured.
Hey, you can't demand me to feature your review. Write a good review and let others know about it.
I would like to be a featured author.
Same as the above. If the total 'likes' of all your reviews written in the last 30 days is the highest, you will be the featured author.

What are gold and platinum reviews?
Similar to music albums, a review is gold or platinum when it reaches a certain number of views. A review has to reach 10,000 views to be a gold review while a platinum review requires 100,000 views.

Why doesn’t Ficklepeople pay its users for their reviews?
I don't have the money to do so. Even if I do, I wouldn't want to head to that direction as it will affect the credibility of Ficklepeople and its reviewers.

How is the ranking calculated?
Ranking is calculated based on the total page views of your reviews (whether in totality or by category) in the past 30 days.
